    LOC Manuscript Division Tracker

The American Folklife Center has announced the launch of the John A. Lomax and Alan Lomax Papers online collection (AFC1933/001). Comprising some 4,900 items, including letters, telegrams, reports, notes, and memoranda, the collection provides a remarkably clear picture of the Lomaxes’ documentary activities during their affiliation with the Library of Congress. In September 1933, John and Alan became stewards of a nascent Archive of American Folk-Song (now part of the American Folklife Center). The Lomax family’s tenure lasted until Alan separated from the Library of Congress in October 1942. Access the digital collection here, as well as a blog post announcing the online launch at this link.
