In 1910 Tall & Josie Benett reside in Union Co, IL with their 3 children (Bertha, Florence, & Lela) and Tall's mother Jane Mayfield.  I think that Tall may have died in 1910 or shortly thereafter, because in the 1930 Census Josie is married to William Anderson and living in Randolph Co, IL.  John and Dorothy Townsell are listed as the step-children of William Anderson and are listed as the children of Josie Anderson in her obituary.

Josie was the daughter of Nash and Ramona Grant, who lived in Union Co, IL in 1900 & 1910.

In addition to the information from the previous posters, we suggest that you search the FamilySearch index for Tennessee Births and Christenings, 1828-1939 and/or contact Tennessee State Library and Archives to request a birth record search for your Tel Benet.  We also suggest that you search the Illinois Death Certificates Database, 1916-1950.  In addition, the FamilySearch Research wikis for Tennessee Vital Records and Illinois Vital Records may also be helpful.
