Seeking deck logs of USS Guam (LPH-9)

    Patrick Bryan Newbie

Why have none of the ships records of the USS Guam, LPH-9 yet to be posted for review?? Please post them for 1965-1967. Those ships logs are needed desperately for my VA claim!!!!

          Dear Mr. Bryan,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

In August 2019, the National Archives and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) entered partnership to digitize the U.S. Navy Deck Logs dated 1956 through 1978. The VA completed scanning these deck logs in March 2020. The scanned documents totaled many terabytes of data that are in the process of being transferred to the National Archives. Once in NARA custody, each batch is verified and staged for upload to the National Archives Catalog.

Since the deck logs you are requesting are not currently available via the National Archives Catalog, we recommend that you check the Catalog periodically for updates.

Also, given that you are requesting U.S Navy Deck Logs in relation to a VA Claim, the VA may be able to provide direct assistance with information relating to deck logs. The Department of Veterans Affairs maintains the original set of the U.S. Navy Deck Logs digital images for the years 1956 through 1978.  Please contact your nearest VA office for assistance.

          We hope this is helpful.
