Dear Ms. Canales,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
White Earth Reservation was administered by the White Earth Agency until 1922, then under the Consolidated Chippewa Agency. We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 202 series regarding the White Earth Agency and 294 series regarding the Consolidated Chippewa Agency in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Record Group 75) that may contain information about Rebecca Ann Rock Canales. For access and assistance in searching these series, please contact the National Archives at Kansas City (RM-KC) via email at kansascity.archives@nara.gov or the National Archives at Chicago (RM-CH) via email at chicago.archives@nara.gov or the National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Records (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov. Please check the series description for the specific unit to contact.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RM-KC, RM-CH & RDT1. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We also located a series titled Indian Census Rolls, 1885-1940 (M595) in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Record Group 75). Many BIA agents or superintendents submitted these rolls to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and include name, gender, age, birth date, agency, marital status, tribe, and family relations. For access to M595, please contact RDT1.These rolls also are indexed and available online at Ancestry and Fold3. Please review NARA’s web page on Indian Census Rolls for more information
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
