Dear Mr. Collocott,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
As birth locations were often noted on death records, we suggest that you obtain your great grandmother’s death certificate. For deaths prior to 1948, contact the New York City Municipal Archives, and for post 1948, contact the NYC Department of Health.
If she was born in New York, we suggest that you contact the New York City Municipal Archives for your grandmother’s birth certificate and review the FamilySearch index for New York Births and Christenings, 1640-1962. If she was born in Florida, we suggest that you search the Florida Births and Christenings, 1880-1935, or contact the State Archives of Florida since Florida births before 1899 were not recorded by the county or state.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
