    Seeking general order issued by Major General George Thomas

      I am looking for a general order issued by Major General George Thomas in February 1866 which prohibited the desecration of Union graves.

          We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Generals' Papers and Books, 1830 - 1884 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1762 - 1917 (Record Group 94) that includes the Papers and Books of General George H. Thomas.  We also located General Orders, 1865 - 1867 in the Records of U.S. Army Continental Commands (Record Group 393) that may contain a copy of this order. These records have not been digitized and are not available online.
