Dear Ms. Bali,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We suggest that you request your uncle’s death certificate from the New York City Department of Health, search his name in the United States Social Security Death Index, and contact the Department of Correction for information on his Hart Island burial.
We also suggest that you search telephone directories and public records available at The New York Public Library to locate his residences, and inquire for a listing of other searchable resources. In addition, we suggest that you search Ancestry, FamilySearch, and online newspaper archives for mention of your uncle. There may be a fee for using these services. Instead, you may wish to contact your local library. Many library systems subscribe to these sites, making them free for patrons. The FamilySearch Research wiki for United States Newspapers may be useful as well.
Lastly, we suggest that you submit a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to obtain Nick Zuiko’s A-File. Here is a link to the USCIS FOIA form: https://www.uscis.gov/g-639. If he was not naturalized, an Index Search through USCIS Genealogy Program will identify any INS records that exist. You may order any records through the same site.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
Thank you very much!
