When transcribing handwritten stuff from late 1700s

I have been making an effort to work on handwritten stuff this week and I need some guidance. I am seeing a lot of superscript used for names and other things. Like the abbreviation for January. How should I be transcribing those? I have seen a few times that people write "Jany [y is superscript]" or something like that. I am finding that can make the page very cluttered when adding all those bracketed notes.  Is that how I should do it or is there another way? Can I just write Jany without acknowledging the superscript? Also, I am finding that sometimes I don't even know what the symbol or abbreviation or whatever even is. See below. What is that last bit that looks like a Yc?
