Re: Seeking source for official military abbreviations
Jillian MinervaNov 12, 2020 9:17 AM (in response to Lynn Ink)
Dear Ms. Ink,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched online and found the following sources that include military abbreviation listings:
- “A CINCPAC Glossary of Commonly Used Abbreviations and Short Titles”
- “Project CHECO Southeast Asia Report. SEAsia Glossary, 1961-1970”
- List of Abbreviations in the Korean War
The Naval History Heritage and Command also offers a listing of dictionaries of abbreviations used through several periods of U.S. Navy history.
A guide from the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) was published in 1949 and was most likely used during the Korean War.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
