I am looking for information about how the US Navy recruited Filipinos at the Naval Base Sangley Point in the Philippines during the 1945-1946 timeframe. I'm writing a memoir for my father who served as a Filipino guerrilla during WWII and later served 26 years as a Navy Steward. He enlisted at Sangley Point in April 1946, just before the Philippine Independence. I'm interested in the type of entrance testing conducted at Sangley, i.e., Written exam, oral exam, and medical tests. I would also like to know how the new recruits were sent over to San Diego for boot camp. Thank you!
