Seeking records of residential and business leases between individual Indian land owners and tribally designated housing entities submitted through BIA and approved by the Secretary of Interior. Just wondering if it’s possible for tribally designated housing entities and BIA to alter leases to benefit tribally designated housing entities without the knowledge of the individual Indian land owner.
Dear Ms. Nelson,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the depository of the permanently valuable non-current records of the Federal Government. Our mission is to preserve the records and make them available to the public.
We suggest that you contact the BIA regional office or the American Indian Records Repository to request a search for tribal residential and business lease records.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
