Re: Seeking Military Service Record of George Tribble
Elliot Schneider Oct 20, 2020 9:35 AM (in response to Kevin Kanter)1 person found this helpfulHello Kevin,
looking at some other things I came across a George Tribble from Virginia that looks like he applied for the Revolutionary war pension. Was the George Tribble that was born in 1794 the Child of perhaps a George Tribble Sr.
Just confirmed must have been George Tribbles father George Tribble that fought in the Revolutionary war because I found his file and states they County of Spotsylvania and his wife Nancy.
Also here is the Spotsylvania County 1830 Census showing a 70 year old and a 20-30 year old female possible a daughter taking care of he dad. This may be the George Tribble Sr. that was in the Revolutionary War also with pension below.
Additionally, found your George Tribbles 1812 Index card looks like the original was filed under George Trible and not Tribble worth looking into see alternate spelling on index card.
Also found this not sure you have this document?
Please let me know if any of this helps,
Elliot Schneider

Kevin Kanter Oct 20, 2020 11:45 AM (in response to Elliot Schneider)Elliot,
Thank you very much for these. I recognize several of them as they were used in approving my application to the Sons of The American Revolution. George Tribble is my qualifying patriot.
I am attempting to prove the service of his son, George Tribble, husband of Margaret for admission to the Society of the War of 1812. I have proof of service, but the application asks for dates of service and I have been unable to locate those dates.

Please see the following document on page #58, copy and paste this link into your web browser, looks like George Jr actually was discharged in 1814 and served as a Corporal. There are other family members on here as well.

1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Kanter,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
The 1812 Index card for George Trible of the 6th (Ritchie's) Virginia Militia that Mr. Schneider for you indicates that there should be a Compiled Military Service Record (CMSR) for him in the record series Carded Records Showing Military Service of Soldiers Who Fought in Volunteer Organizations During the War of 1812 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1762 -1917 (Record Group 94) but his CMSR has not been digitized and is not available online.
To order copies of service records not already available in the National Archives Catalog, please fill out a NATF Form 86 for the service records and mail the completed form to the address listed on the form. We suggest that you also print out and attach the index card to your order. For more information see Requesting Copies of Older (pre-WWI) Military Service Records. There is a reproduction fee for this service.
Please note that the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has suspended reproduction and digitization services until further notice due to COVID-19. Orders will not be serviced until operations can resume safely. NARA has also temporarily suspended the option for placing online orders using eservices.archives.gov. Once operations resume, document reproduction requests will be filled in the order in which they were received. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Because he served in the Virginia Militia, we suggest that you also contact the Library of Virginia. Also, because Ritchie County became part of West Virginia, the West Virginia State Archives may have records relating to his militia service
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
