familysearch.org has some records from American Samoa (it is a free website, you just have to apply for a free username and password)
The only records that I found that may be Christian Cordts is the 1912 census
Did your ancestor live anywhere other than American Samoa, since I found several people with the name Christian Cordts living in the American mainland?
Dear Ms. Ropati,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives catalog and located a series titled the National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmarks Program Records, 2013 - 2017 in the Records of the National Park Service (Record Group 79) that includes a file unit titled National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmarks Program Records: American Samoa with a digitized item American Samoa SP Satala Cemetery that contains a reference to C. Cordts. The digitized item is available via the Catalog.
We suggest that you search the FamilySearch indexes for American Samoa, Vital Records, 1850-1930 and American Samoa, Census Records, 1900-1945 as well as contacting the U.S. Territory of American Samoa to inquire about any records for Christian Cordts and Oea Malota.
We also suggest that you consult the FamilySearch Research wiki Pacific Island Guide to Family History Research
Lastly, we searched online and located several articles and other publications that might be relevant to your research such as:
- Rare photos underpin new book on German-era Samoa
- Samoa: Memories of “The Pearl of the South Seas”
- A Woman on a Mission - Samoa Observer
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
