I have done some digging and a relative of yours has done lots of research his name is Ed Coyle I would suggest contacting him. He has been able to put together allot of information and pictures on Ancestry.com.
If you have the ability I would speak with him directly.
Thanks,

Re: Seeking information about Charles Neilson
Ted Coyle Oct 5, 2020 12:55 PM (in response to Elliot Schneider)Hi Elliot,
Thank you for taking a look, I appreciate it.
Yes, I can absolutely speak with him but there's one problem - that's me! My legal name is Edward and Ted is my nickname. Teddy Kennedy is the only other example of Edward-Ted that I can think of.
I've done a ton of research but no luck at all. My mission starting out on the family tree was answer 2 questions, the first was finding out about Charles Neilson, and the second was finding the Irish origin of my second-great grandfather, Patrick Coyle.
The search continues for both.
The problem with Charles is that I have no idea if that was his real name. There is no way for to validate the other men I locate with the same or similar names. I was wondering if there is a method or some documentation that should use or find. Any advice or clues will be of value to me.

When you tested your dna was it with just one dna company? I have tested with 23andMe, FTDNA and Ancestry. I have started my tree on ancestry and have such a long way to go. I Know that MyHeritage and FTDNA allow you to upload your dna tests results from 23andMe or Ancestry. GEDMatch is also another place you can upload your results to from any company and receive thousands of matches, maybe some that you haven't seen yet. GEDMatch is free unless you want to pay a monthly fee to use some of the many tools they offer to help you learn more. Best of luck in your search.

Ted Coyle Oct 7, 2020 6:05 AM (in response to Lynn Taylor-Buccafuri)Hi Lynn,
I have only used Ancestry for both myself and my mom. My brother used 23, so I will give that a good look. GEDMatch sounds like an interesting new opportunity as well. Thank you for the tips.

Dear Mr. Coyle,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We suggest that you search the New York City Directories and the List of Registered Voters in New York City for 1924 for Charles Matthews/Charles Neilson during the years surrounding 1922. We also suggest that you contact the The Bronx County Historical Society and the Bronx Library Center for a listing of other searchable resources.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

As an outsider, looking in, my first thought was...Could Max Sandler be Charles Neilson?

It is a very reasonable suggestion, but no, Max couldn't be the father. He was a well known part of the family for many years. The half-sisters also looked quite different physically.
