Dear Ms. Nauseda,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Photographs of American Military Activities, ca. 1918 - ca. 1981 in the Records of the Office of the Chief Signal Officer (Record Group 111) that may include the photographs you seek. For access to these photographs, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Still Picture (RDSS) via email at email@example.com and their web site is https://www.archives.gov/dc-metro/college-park/photographs-dc.html.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDSS. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Also consider utilizing and contacting the New York Public Library and the New York City Archives for any information or photographs they may have in their records. The New York Public Library has a photography room at their main branch with an ample Photography Collection, some of which is available online. The 16th Infantry Regiment Association also has a website, including photographs.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. I had found the 16th Infantry Regiment Association website which does contain quite a few photos, but none of the military band during the years when my grandfather served.
I will definitely try contacting the New York Pubic Library and the New York City Archives since I know from my father that the band marched in parades in NYC.
Your note is much appreciated!
Thank you so much for your response. I had found the 16th Infantry Regiment Association website which does contain quite a few photos, but none of the military band during the years when my grandfather served (1920 - 1923). However, I may try contacting the association to determine if they have any other archived photos.
Your note was very thoughtful and much appreciated!
