Elliot Schneider Oct 2, 2020 10:33 AM (in response to Billy Weathers)Billy,
Please follow the instructions below. Hope this helps.
The U.S. Army Chaplain 201 and Report Files from 1917 to 1950 are in the custody of the National Archives at St. Louis, ATTN: RL-SL, P.O. Box 38757, St. Louis, MO 63138-1002. Please contact RL-SL for access to these records via email at stl.archives@nara.gov. Marriages are listed in the reports, but will need to know the name of the chaplain and the approximate date of the ceremony to request them.
If the marriage was performed in the United States, a marriage license or certificate would have been recorded with the state or county according to the laws of the state in which the marriage was performed. See here for a listing of points of contact for requesting vital records for states and U.S. territories. Thanks,
Elliot Schneider

Billy Weathers Oct 2, 2020 3:57 PM (in response to Alice Lane)Thank you Alice for the clipping. I was unaware that his service was held at the family home in Elkton, Ky. It must have been packed with mourners as the house was an old 2 story frame with 3
rooms downstairs. Visited there many times while growing up. Lots of good memories!

Not sure if the info below was in effect in the 1940's but the one way to find out would
be to get your Dad's military files..........
Found this about getting married in the military.

Regardless of where or who, once married, if the spouse is non-military, the military member can bring a copy of the certified marriage certificate to the Personnel Headquarters on the base to receive a dependent ID card for the spouse, and enroll the spouse in DEERS (Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System), to qualify for military benefits such as medical coverage and commissary and base exchange privileges.

I tried Elliot's suggestion but it takes you to Bexar County and this is what you get.
When searching family history...this is the kind of circles you travel in....determination is the key
to getting results.

Re: Looking for my parents marriage license
Billy Weathers Oct 4, 2020 9:28 PM (in response to Alice Lane)Hi Alice!
Thanks for the info. I am in the Q for my fathers personal records if they are still available due to the fire in the early 70’s. I am also in the Q for info on his marriage per Elliots suggestion. As for as the Bexar County Clerk, I have accessed their records online and my fathers name does not come up, but my mother’s does when she remarried in 1965 along with a number of my other relatives on my mother’s side of the family.
Thanks again for all your help and if you think of anything else I can do I’ll be all ears!! Billy
