Jason AtkinsonSep 16, 2020 3:08 PM (in response to Phillip Hall)
Dear Mr. Hall,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Case Files, Briefs and Appendices, 1891 - 1993; Dockets, 6/16/1891 - 1989; and Briefs and Appendices, 1929 - 1993 of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in the Records of the U.S. Courts of Appeals (Record Group 276). For more information about these records, please contact the National Archives at Kansas City (RM-KC) at kansascity.archives@nara.gov.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RM-KC. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Phillip Hall Sep 17, 2020 10:17 AM (in response to Jason Atkinson)Thank you very much for the info, I am most grateful that you have taken the time to help me. I will certainly do as you suggest and contact the National Archives at Kansas City. If i may trouble you further: I don't understand what (RM-KC) refers to. KC is presumably Kansas City, but what about RM? Is this important when contacting NARA? I am reasonably well versed in the UK National Archives but a total beginner with regard to the US ones. What you say about the Covid related delay is not a surprise, as so many organizations are thus affected. Thanks once more.

Thank you for posting your follow-up request on History Hub!
RM-KC is the office code/symbol for the National Archives at Kansas City. It is based on the NARA hierarchy. The most important information is using the email address and the organization name correctly. Office codes/symbols change.
We hope this is helpful.
