Dear Ms. Bailey,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Records of Divisions, 1917 - 1920 in the Records of the American Expeditionary Forces (World War I) (Record Group 120) that includes the 89th Division and the files of the 356th Infantry in Boxes 40-41 & 135. For access to these files, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at email@example.com. We were unable to locate specific records of Company E. Records of lower echelon units sometimes were incorporated into the files of the regiment.
We also located the series titled Muster Rolls and Rosters, 11/1/1912 - 12/31/1943 in the Records of the National Archives and Records Administration (Record Group 64) that includes digitized World War I Rosters of enlisted men - 355th-356th Inf Regt (1 of 2) & (2 of 2). These are available using the Catalog.
