Re: Seeking Revolutionary War records of William Seals
Susannah Brooks Aug 28, 2020 3:14 PM (in response to larry baxter)1 person found this helpfulWilliam Seals, who was married to Judith Powell, was born and died in the current Moore Co, North Carolina. Moore County was created in 1784 from Cumberland County, which had been created in 1754 from Bladen County.
I did not find William Seal (Seale, Seals) or William Muse in the records of units affiliated with the Continental Military on either www.Fold3.com or listed on the DAR website. But at the time of the Revolutionary War at least through the War of 1812 there were both federal troops (those affiliated with them) and local militias. I did find a William Seal in a Cumberland County NC militia https://www.carolana.com/NC/Revolution/nc_cumberland_county_regiment.html
I do not know if it is the person who is married to Judith Powell or not.

Re: Seeking Revolutionary War records of William Seals
Susannah Brooks Aug 29, 2020 12:37 AM (in response to larry baxter)North Carolina did not start keeping death records until 1913. Alternative records, if they can be found, are church burial records, probate records, or tombstones.
