Re: Seeking passport application for child travelling from India to UK
Susannah Brooks Aug 25, 2020 7:16 PM (in response to Penny Power)Since the children were British and travelling to Britain they probably did not need passports. If they had passports, the records would be somewhere in England, if they still exist. You might try first to find the passenger arrival record in England (some are on-line on Ancestry.com), which would at least have their ages and maybe birth dates and whether or not they had passports.

Penny Power Aug 26, 2020 5:05 AM (in response to Susannah Brooks)Thanks Susannah, interesting to know they may not have needed passports! I am about to follow that up with Passport office here in UK. Sadly the Passenger details of 1926 only give age in years as in 13 and 11 years old. Have even written to Dads old schools in India, but they could not help either. Hence trying to think 'outside the box'.

Re: Seeking passport application for child travelling from India to UK
Susannah Brooks Aug 26, 2020 1:09 PM (in response to Penny Power)According to the age of the older child, he would have been born 1912 or 1913. Have you looked in the online British birth indexes for someone with his name born those years? The index will only give you the place and quarter of the year in which he was born. So if you know the place he was born and the name is not super common, you should then be able to request his birth certificate https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate

Dear Ms. Power,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We suggest contacting the National Archives of the United Kingdom for questions regarding what documentation, if any, was required for British citizens to travel between different parts of the British Empire, and how to access any other records that may still exist regarding your father and his family. We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
