Records of US Consular Posts (including Spain 1797-1955) are in Record Group (RG) 84.3. State Department records including diplomatic correspondence (RG 59.2.1) and consular correspondence (RG 59.2.2). These records are located at NARA in College Park, Maryland. Washington Irvings papers are at the NY Public Library [http://archives.nypl.org/mss/1524] and Yale University [https://archives.yale.edu/repositories/11/resources/1797 ].
The papers of Daniel Webster are on microfilm at NARA (I am not certain which branch has the microfilm) and have been published by Dartmouth College Press [https://www.archives.gov/nhprc/projects/catalog/daniel-webster ]

Dear Mr. Ritt,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 8 series in the Records of the Foreign Service Posts of the Department of State (Record Group 84) that pertain to records from the U.S. Consulates and the U.S. Embassy in Spain during the 1840s. We also located the Despatches from Diplomatic Officers, 1789 - 1906 and the Despatches from U.S. Consular Officers, 1789 - 1906 in the General Records of the Department of State (Record Group 59) that may relate to diplomatic and consulate correspondence from Spain to the Secretary of State during the 1840s. For access to these series, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
The Papers of Daniel Webster are located at Dartmouth College not the National Archives and in part, have been published by the Dartmouth College Press. For more information about the Daniel Webster Collection, please contact the Rauner Special Collections Library in the Dartmouth College Library.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
