Seeking arrests made by Galveston Police Officer

    Tracey Brown Newbie

Hello, I am looking for records of arrests made by a Detective (and Officer) who served in Galveston Police from 1913-1914. Does anyone know how I might go about finding these records? I'm in the UK, so I can't go to libraries or archives. Thanks.

          Dear Ms. Brown,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

Records of local police forces, when they are retained, are generally kept at either local or state repositories.  Every state has its own way of doing things. Also, if the arrest resulted in court records being created, such as for a trial, there may also be records that are still in the custody of that court.  We suggest that you begin by contacting the police force that made the arrest to inquire about the disposition of their historical records.  If you are referring to Galveston, Texas, the website is here.

We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
