Wellington Jackson was a brother of my great-grandfather Allen Wilmot Jackson. Their father George was a Master Mariner and three of his sons, Allen, Hartley, and John were also mariners. They frequently sailed between St. John, New Brunswick, and Boston, MA. When these three relocated to the west coast they sailed around Cape Horn and up to California and Seattle, Washington. Wellington might have gone to California by train but I think it is more likely that he went by sea. Wellington's mother, Donna Maria Parnell also had family in the Boston area.
