Dear Mr. Mayer,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located numerous films related to displaced persons, many of which can be viewed online using the Catalog, and are part of the series Moving Images Relating to Military Activities, 1947-1964 in the Records of the Office of the Chief Signal Officer (Record Group 111). For more information about these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Motion Pictures (RDSM) via email at email@example.com.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDSM. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Additionally, the Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem may have documentary film footage that relates to your research, and the JDC Archives has a collection of digitized films, video, and audio recordings that may be helpful.
Finally, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), World ORT, and Yad Vashem all have information about displaced persons camps available on their websites. For additional assistance, please contact them directly.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
