Seeking information on parents of Allen Dowdle

The parents of Allen Dowdle (1795-1858) are listed as Allen Dowdle (1748-1815) and a Nancy. Other genealogy records list a Pvt James Dowdal (Dowdle) (1758-1802) and an Elizabeth Cropp. All children are the same for both sets of parents. Which ones are right?

These documents may ensure that the same names and vital dates are maintained for each generation.
