Welcome to History Hub,
I think I found your list, but it is written in German.. I cannot read...
It is from the website https://chroniclingamerica.loc.govhttps://www.bing.com/search?q=chronicling+america+newspapers+online&cvid=1f82c8bf5e144bbcafe67f200fe05d4d&pglt=803&FORM=ANNTA1&PC=HCTS
Hopefully you or someone you know can read it.

Susannah Brooks Aug 18, 2020 11:36 AM (in response to Sabine Gorgas)According to the article the list was made of all the passengers that boarded the ship. It includes the name of each passenger (or family head), their occupation, and the town of which they were a citizen. In the case of families, all of the members are not listed by name, but the number of people in a family appears after the name of the head of the family.

1 person found this helpfulDear Ms. Gorgas,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
Since the Ship Johannes did not arrive at the Port of Baltimore, we suggest that you contact the State Archive of Bremen to request information regarding any outgoing crew lists or local accounts of any search efforts. In addition, the FamilySearch Research wiki on Bremen Emigration/Immigration may be helpful.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Re: Seeking information on SS Johannes
Sabine Gorgas Aug 20, 2020 12:19 AM (in response to Sabine Gorgas)Hi Alice, Susannah and Cara,
Thank you very much for the links and suggestions. The articles I know. I have been also already in contact with someone from the Bremen side. From there I got the information that there is no paper trail of the passengers left.
The newspaper articles mention that the list was in 1844 received on request of the Baltimore Correspondent. I am not sure whether this was a newspaper or an official of the harbor in Baltimore? If this list then issued by the Bremen side would still exist this would be a kind of official proof who was on the ship. I was also wondering whether there were any reports of witnesses or some other reports of other ships over the years. Maybe there were things found which were suspected to be from the ship etc. It is just so sad that there was obviously really nothing anymore of these 150 people that just disappeared on the way to America.

Re: Seeking information on SS Johannes
Susannah Brooks Aug 20, 2020 12:47 PM (in response to Sabine Gorgas)The Deutsche Correspondent was a German language newspaper published in Baltimore Maryland from approximately 1841 - 1918. I cannot find 1844 copies of the paper on-line, but they would probably be available at the Library of Congress.
