Dear Mr. Gullikson,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
The National Archives only has custody of records created by the federal government that document tribal nations during American nationhood, and even then records are sparse until the mid 19th century. Many of the tribes in the northern plains were just beginning to be administered around the Civil War and there would be no records for individuals of Dakota tribal nations before 1885. We suggest that you search Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers for mention of your Red Blanket.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
