Re: Seeking Certificate of Naturalization for Hermann Neumann
Alice Lane Aug 1, 2020 4:40 PM (in response to Stuart Neumann)Hi Stuart,
Welcome to History Hub,
Are you familiar with familysearch.org...it is a free website to search for ancestors..it is free but you will need to register.
I found this...it is not a naturalization but shows an arrival date and has a photo of Hans Neumann. Is this him.

It is an immigrant identification card....what do you mean by the next four pages? What did not match?
I don't have a subscription to Ancestry.

Susannah Brooks Aug 1, 2020 10:01 PM (in response to Alice Lane)Ms Lane,
If you click on your link to the immigration card on familysearch.org, which I did. When you bring up the image you can click page by page through the 4 page file (immigration card, declaration of intention (has the photo), 2 pages of the petition for naturalization). When I said it did not match, I meant that it is the wrong person (wrong dates, wrong places, etc).

Alice Lane Aug 2, 2020 7:58 AM (in response to Susannah Brooks)Susannah,
Isn't right or wrong person something for the requester to decide. I won't pass up something close and not show it, when it could be the right one. There are too many inaccurracies to pass on anything that might be relevant, might be a relative. Like I said, it is for the requestor to decide. I realize that you have been on History Hub for a while and any little hints that you want to throw my way are appreciated.
Thanks

I agree with you 100%, but only reason I said it was the wrong person in this instance was because the requester was very specific about the person, place, dates he was looking for.

Re: Seeking Certificate of Naturalization for Hermann Neumann
Stuart Neumann Aug 20, 2020 1:17 PM (in response to Stuart Neumann)Hi Susannah:
The Petition for Naturalization for Hermann Hans Neumann that you found on Ancestry.com is in fact for my father. He applied for Naturalization when he was a soldier in the U.S. Army at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas in 1943. What are the next 4 pages that you referred to in your email note? How can I find my father's actual Certificate of Naturalization as a U.S. Citizen that was issued the the U.S. government? Thanks so much for your continued cooperation and assistance.
Best wishes -

Re: Seeking Certificate of Naturalization for Hermann Neumann
Susannah Brooks Aug 20, 2020 3:11 PM (in response to Stuart Neumann)The 4 pages I referred to was for the other Hans Neumann that was found by the other researcher. Your Hermann Hans Neumann's file has 2 pages. If you have access to Ancestry.com the link is https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/2509/images/42371_1220705043_1071-00023?treeid=&personid=&hintid=&query…
I am not certain that a copy of the original naturalization certificate (not the declaration or petition) was kept by the government -- I have never seen one in a naturalization file, but CIS (citizenship & naturalization service) may have a copy. The original was given to the new citizen.
