Dear Mr. Kaess,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Records of Divisions, 1917 - 1920 in the Records of the American Expeditionary Forces (World War I) (Record Group 120) that includes the 88th Division and files of the 351st Infantry Regiment in Boxes 8-9. Photographs may be filed with the records of the unit. For access to these files, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov. We were unable to locate specific records of the Headquarters Company. Records of lower echelon units sometimes were incorporated into the files of the regiment.
Photographs of various U.S. Army activities and subjects during WWI are in the custody of the National Archives at College Park - Still Picture (RDSS). Please contact RDSS via email at stillpix@nara.gov and their web site is https://www.archives.gov/dc-metro/college-park/photographs-dc.html.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2 and RDSS. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We suggest that you search the Kansas County Birth Records, 1885-1911 FamilySearch index and/or request a birth record search from the Shawnee County Clerk or the Kansas Historical Society. Also, please review the FamilySearch Research wiki for Kansas Vital Records.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
