Seeking flight Nurses and locations in North African Theater of Operations

Seeking WWII flight nurses serving in the North African Theater of Operations. I'm trying to find names and locations of Air bases and hospitals across the North African Theater of Operations where the Air Transport Command would fly patients.  Also where to locate Unit Operational records for the following North Africa Division groups: 1250th; 1264th; 1252nd; and 1200th.

          Dear Ms. Woolf,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Command Records Regarding Air Transport, 1942 - 1945 in the Records of U.S. Air Force Commands, Activities, and Organizations (Record Group 342) that may include the information you seek. We also located the Unit Annual Reports, 1940 - 1949 in the Records of the Office of the Surgeon General (Army) (Record Group 112) that may include records of the 1250th; 1264th; 1252nd; and 1200th

Army Air Forces Base Units. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.

RDT2 also has custody of microfilm copies of operational records relating to U.S. Army Air Force units. We searched the Air Force History index to the microfilm and located two files that pertain to the 1250th AAF Base Unit. Please read the brief Abstract to determine which records you are interested in and click on the specific PDF icon. In the PDF listing, the IRISREF is the microfilm reel number and note the FRAME and FRAMELST numbers for the location on the reel. Since the reel number begins with A, please contact RDT2. We were unable to locate files for the 1264th; 1252nd; and 1200th AAF Base Units.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
