George Cole Jul 29, 2020 10:37 PM (in response to Alice Lane)I have been trying to find information about
the early inhabitants of North Central
North America.
With your help,
I have found a lot of information about the
Sioux Nation, but I can't find anything about
who was there before the Sioux.
Any help will be apreciated.

1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Cole,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Moving Images Relating to National Parks, 1970 - ca. 2009 in the Records of the National Park Service (Record Group 79) that includes the film The Lakota: One Nation on the Plains. The film explores the culture of the Lakota Indians and describes the influence that buffalo, horses and the arrival of Europeans had on the tribe. For access to the film, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Motion Pictures (RDSM) via email at mopix@nara.gov.
For additional resources on the prehistory of the Lakota peoples, we suggest that you contact the Oglala Lakota Nation, historical monument sites such as the Jeffers Petroglyphs, or browse the HathiTrust catalog listing of Teton Dakota, ethnology and history.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Alice Lane Jul 30, 2020 12:22 PM (in response to George Cole)Hi George
I think researhing archaeology in the area would be a choice for you to consider. I collected a few websites for you to look at. I have discovered that there have been many people and organizations who have done studies to find the answer to your question, but I did not found any definite conclusions. It would take a life time to read all of the articles on the subject.
