Dear Mr. Ackley,
Thank you for posting your request on the History Hub!
Operation Eagle Pull was the evacuation of U.S. military and Cambodian personnel that took place on April 12, 1975 and consisted of the U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps. The following Marine Corps units participated in Operation Eagle Pull:
- 31st Marine Amphibious Unit (31st MAU)
- Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 (HMH-463)
- 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment (one landing squadron)
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Command Chronologies of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War in the Records of the U.S. Marine Corps (Record Group 127) that include records of the 31st MAU, HMH-463, and 2nd Bn/4th Marines. Some of these records are digitized and available using the Catalog. For access to the non-digitized records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at email@example.com.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We also located the series titled Black and White Photographs of Marine Corps Activities in Vietnam, 1962 - 1975 in Record Group 127 that includes 38 digitized photographs for Operation Eagle Pull. The digitized items are available using the Catalog.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
