Robert Fox's service record (18 cards or pages) is available on Fold3.com (paid research site). He served in Co K 27th regiment of the US Colored Troops (this was a federal, not a state level unit). He enlisted 2 Aug 1864 at Ripley, Ohio and was mustered in the next day in Hillsboro, Ohio. He mustered out in Smithville NC on 21 Sep 1865
