Seeking Submarine ComTaskFor 17 Operation Orders

    Robert Farris Newbie

I am trying to find the Operations Orders that were given to WWII Submarines as they went out on War Patrol. One such order was "ComTaskFor 17 Operation Order 272-44 of 10 August 1944" not having any luck. Anyone have any ideas?

          Dear Mr. Farris,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series titled Operational Plans and Orders and Related Documents, 1941-1945 in the Records of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (Record Group 38) that may include the operations orders you seek. We also located 6 series & 148 file units in the Records of Naval Operating Forces (Record Group 313)  pertaining to the Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMSUBPAC) during WWII. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
