          Dear Ms. Bukowski,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archive Catalog and located Command Reporting Files for Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, 8/9/1990 - 12/31/1990 and Operational Files Relating to the Persian Gulf War, 1983 - 1992 in the Records of the Army Staff (Record Group 319) that contain records related to the 1st Cavalry Division during Operation Desert Storm and may include records of the 8th Engineer Battalion. These records are unprocessed and some of the records are still classified.  For more information about these records, please contact the  National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at Archives2reference@nara.gov.  If necessary, RDT2 will let you know how to request these records through FOIA or through a Mandatory Declassification Review.

We also located Persian Gulf War Maps and Overlays , 1990 - 1996 in Record Group 518 that are fully classified.  Please contact the National Archives at College Park - Cartographic (RDSC) at carto@nara.gov for information about requesting these records through FOIA or through a Mandatory Declassification Review.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2 & RDSC. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
