Dear Ms. Ciampi,
Thank you for posting your inquiry on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog for “nurses”, “World War I”, and limiting it to 1910-1919 and located 30 series in various record groups and collections that may be of interest. In particular, the series “Historical Nurse Files, ca. 1916-ca.1959” in the Records of the American Red Cross (ANRC) includes 1526 file units, many of which list the name(s) of Red Cross nurse(s).
Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from various NARA units. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Also, we searched online and located the following resources that might be of interest to you:
- Highlights in the History of the Army Nurse Corps: Chronology available on the website of the U.S. Army Center of Military History
- Army Nurse Corps History available on the website of the U.S. Army Medical Department, Office of Medical History
- World War I and the American Red Cross available on the website of the American Red Cross
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Thank you for posting your inquiry on History Hub.
If you would like information on 20th Century Military Nurses personnel related records, I suggest you watch the 2018 National Archives Virtual Genealogy Fair presentation on YouTube "America's Military Made the Call: Hello Nurses!" It provides a brief history of the Nurse Corps and how to research 20th Century Military Nurses records at the National Archives. Supplemental documents referenced in the presentation can be located at https://www.archives.gov/calendar/genealogy-fair/2018 under Session 6: America's Military Made the Call: Hello Nurses!
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research! If I can be of any additional help, please let me know.
