Dear Saari Miller,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Judges' Opinions, 1851 - 1917 in the Records of District Courts of the United States (Record Group 21) that include records of United States Circuit Court in New York City. For access to this series, please contact the National Archives at New York (RE-NY) via email at newyork.archives@nara.gov. For a listing of RE-NY court records, please see this finding aid.
Also, we searched the Catalog for “General Slocum” and located 3 series, 19 file units, and 8 items relevant to this query. For access to records of interest, please contact the unit listed in the description.
Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from various NARA units. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Further, we located the “Report of the United States Commission of Investigation upon the Disaster to the Steamer ‘General Slocum’ October 8, 1904” available on the United States Coast Guard website.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
