Dear Mr. McCarthy,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
The National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) has custody of microfilm copies of operational records relating to U.S. Army Air Force units. We searched the Air Force History Index to the microfilm and located 173 records of the 2nd Air Division and its predecessor the 2nd Bombardment Division, to include GENERAL ORDERS 01-01-1945 through 05-31-1945 and GENERAL ORDERS 01-29-1945 through 04-01-1945. The citation for the DFC should be in GENERAL ORDERS 01-01-1945 through 05-31-1945, and the citations for the Air Medals and Oak Leaf Clusters may be in either or both sets of general orders. Please read the brief Abstract to determine which records you are interested in and click on the specific PDF icon. In the PDF listing, the IRISREF is the microfilm reel number and note the FRAME and FRAMELST numbers for the location on the reel. Please contact RDT2 via email at firstname.lastname@example.org and provide that information.
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled World War II Combat Operations Reports, 1941 - 1946 in the Records of the Army Air Forces (Record Group 18) that includes 240 Mission Reports for the 467th Bomb Group. For more information about these records, please email RDT2.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
Thanks Jason and Elliot! I will reach out to AFHRA and search the AF History Index and let you know what I come up with.
