Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
If a grandparent is on the final rolls, one is said to have a case for membership per the tribe’s own information. Membership/Citizenship is only through the Chickasaw Nation itself and the procedure is available on their website.
Does that include freedmen? A 1947 citizenship law for the Five Tribes seemed to not include freedmen but that’s been challenged over the years and there was a 2017 federal appeals case with the Cherokee stating that blood could not alone determine tribal membership, thus meaning the freedmen. We suggest that you should approach the tribe.
