We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Criminal Case Files, 1867 - 1911 in the Records of District Courts of the United States (Record Group 21) that includes 3 file units titled Criminal Case 148 -- United States v. J.W. Mitchell, et.al. -- Conspiracy; Criminal Case 144 -- United States v. John Mitchell, et.al. -- [Court] Columbia -- York County -- Civil Rights (Deny Vote); and Criminal Case 110 -- United States v. John W. Mitchell, et.al. -- [Court] Columbia -- York County -- Civil Rights (Deny Vote). The cases were tried in the U.S. Circuit Court in Columbia, SC in 1871.
