Seeking criminal documents of John Hosea Anderson

I have been trying to find criminal documents in Indiana regarding my ancestor, John Hosea Anderson.  He was born 28 March 1879 and died 25 June  1954.  He was married to Mayme Welch.  He was a traveling salesman as recorded in the 1910, 1920 (worked as school teacher), 1929 directory, and 1940 census (educational).  He divorced his wife in 1938.  He served time in jail because of his poor business practices.  He sold either dictionaries or encyclopedias, I believe.  I cannot find any information on this, however, 5 family members of that generation confirmed the story but they did not remember the dates of this occurrence.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I don't know what else to do, and am growing increasingly frustrated.  I have found records indicating he could have possibly gone by Hosea John Anderson instead of John Anderson.  Any help would be so appreciated

          Dear Ms. Fisher,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We suggest that you begin by searching the county court records where he was arrested and charged. The census records you have should help you to determine the county where he lived. Begin with that county first, then the surrounding counties, and lastly, search the Indiana court records.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!

I'm your grandmother Pat's cousin and know a little about John Hosea Anderson, who was my grandfather.  You can contact me through my email address at the University of North Carolina.

I did not find anything in on-line newspapers regarding John Hosea Anderson being arrested.

He seemed to have sold various things during his career:

              1900: school teacher

              1910: traveling, oil company

1918 (WWI draft card): state sales manager for JH Hanson & Co, Chicago IL (JH Hanson was the president of the Hanson-Bellows Co, which published the World Book Encyclopedia)

              1920: leaser, oil

              1930: salesman, traveling educational

              1940: traveling, salesman typewriters

The photo that you have was copywritten by the Stenoscript Co.  Stenoscript sold books (training courses) for learning stenoscript, an alternative to shorthand.  They also sold court stenography machines, which may be what was listed in the 1940 census as "typewriters".
