Re: Seeking information about Peter Joseph Schwickerath
Elliot Schneider May 21, 2020 10:06 AM (in response to Joanne Drummond)Joanne,
I looked a a third party site, and came up with Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. The 1910 Census in Egg Harbor City states he was widowed. There was no dependents or widow listed on the pension record from 1891 please see copy below. Also found the 1907 Pension records and it shows him deceased at the top left of the document in 1907. Also found a copy of his VA pension payment card. Looks like Elisabeth Simon was not included in any of the payments under your Great-Great Grandfather but she may have been issued one directly to herself.
Also please see link to the find a grave website copy and paste link in your web browser.

Hope this helps,

Re: Seeking information about Peter Joseph Schwickerath
Joanne Drummond May 21, 2020 2:34 PM (in response to Elliot Schneider)Thanks for all of your trouble. I do have all this information. However, I was looking for the city in Prussia, where the Schwickeraths were originally from. I’ve found the names of people from Prussia, but further research has shown that they are not the ones I am seeking, and I was told the pension application information might have what I need.

Elliot Schneider May 21, 2020 2:52 PM (in response to Joanne Drummond)Joanne,
You might want to seek immigration records or manifest when they came to America. That might help you understand where they came from. I have very strong German and Norwegian ancestors and the Germans side of are family were Vulga Germans mostly settled in Minnesota and Wisconsin as farmers.
Best of luck if I find something else I will post again.
Thanks,
Elliot Schneider

Re: Seeking information about Peter Joseph Schwickerath
joan stachnik May 21, 2020 3:17 PM (in response to Joanne Drummond)Hi Joanne, not sure if this is helpful, or if you already have checked here, but Familysearch.org has a number of christenings listed for individuals named Petrus Jacobus Schwickerath or Petrus Schwickerath, taking place in what appears to be part of Prussia (eg, Kyllburg, Eisenschmitt). Birth years range from 1822 to 1844+. The database is German Births and Baptisms (1558-1898). Parents' names are also listed. Hope this is of some help or interest. joan

Re: Seeking information about Peter Joseph Schwickerath
Joanne Drummond May 22, 2020 5:59 AM (in response to joan stachnik)Thanks Joan. I check there often, and I have researched all the ones I've found who were born in the same time-frame, but they all either died young or ended up staying there and having families. I recently found newly added records for another ancestor in Baden, so I hope the right church will submit information about these people.
