Dear Ms. Williamson,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Records of Connecticut Accounts Relating to the Loan Authorized by an Act of August 4, 1790, 1791 - 1835 and Indexes to Revolutionary Account Books, 1789 - 1789 (documenting ca. ca. 1775 - 1781) in the Records of the Bureau of the Public Debt (Record Group 53). For more information, please contact National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at Archives2reference@nara.gov.
We also located Papers of the Continental Congress, 1774 - 1789 in the Records of the Continental and Confederation Congresses and the Constitutional Convention (Record Group 360) that include a file unit titled Estimates and Statements of Receipts and Expenditures. For more information about these records, please contact the National Archives in Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at Archives1reference@nara.gov.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2 and RDT1. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Much of the expense associated with the Revolutionary War was borne by individual states. Please contact the Connecticut State Library for information about state records.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
