Seeking records for orphans in New York

Some records of charitable organizations that housed orphans and at-risk-youth have been donated to universities, such as New York Juvenile Asylum records (Children's Village), 1853-1954 at  Columbia University. You also may wish to contact the New-York Historical Society.
