Dear Ms. Saltsgiver,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Confederate Hospital Muster Rolls in the War Department Collection of Confederate Records (Record Group 109) that may contain a listing for her. We also located Record Books of Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Offices of the Confederate Government in Record Group 109 that includes some records of some Confederate hospitals. Please contact National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at Archives1reference@nara.gov for more information about these records.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgment as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT1. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
In regards to memorials for nurses, we searched online and located the following, however it is not clear if any of these were intended to memorialize Confederate nurses as well.
- https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/civil-war-nurses-memorial
- https://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Explore/Monuments-and-Memorials/Nurses-Memorial
North Carolina has a moment for North Carolina Women of the Confederacy but doesn’t specifically mention or visually represent the function of nurses.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
