Dear Ms. Carlson,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Division of Vital Records, certified copies are only available at the county clerk in the county where the marriage occurred. The Division of Vital Records can verify the facts of a marriage that has taken place from 1962 through the current index date available. The facts of a marriage include: names, dates of birth, date of event, and city/county of event. To request a copy of the actual marriage certificate, please contact the Cook County Clerk’s Office Bureau of Vital Records. Please note that they have announced on their web page that they are currently unable to process requests for copies of records due to the emergency facility shutdowns.
We hope this information is helpful.
