1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. McDonald,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
Not knowing which unit of the U.S. Armed Forces you served in, we searched the National Archives Catalog and located the following:
- Army -- 770 series of “daily journals” in the Records of the U.S. Forces in Southeast Asia (Record Group 472)
- Marine Corps -- digitized Command Chronologies and Related Documentation, 1962-1987 and Vietnam War Era Command Chronologies Files in the Records of the U.S. Marine Corps (Record Group 127)
- Navy -- Logbooks of U.S. Navy Ships and Stations, 1941 - 1983 in the Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (Record Group 24)
- Air Force -- 10 series of the Pacific Air Force in the Records of U.S. Air Force Commands, Activities, and Organizations (Record Group 342) including the Records Relating to Numbered and Named Air Forces, 1947 - 1967
Please review these series. For access to and/or copies of the non-digitized records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2.
We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
