Dear Mr. Ahlers,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Logbooks of U.S. Navy Ships and Stations, 1941 - 1983 in the Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (Record Group 24) that include the deck logs of the LSM-469 for 17 March 1945 through 28 August 1946. For access to and/or copies of these logs, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Because Landing Craft Tank (LCT) boats were not commissioned, we have very few deck logs for LCTs and LCT flotillas. We were unable to locate any for the specific boats and flotillas that you requested.
We also located World War II War Diaries, Other Operational Records and Histories, ca. 1/1/1942 - ca. 6/1/1946 in the Records of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (Record Group 38) that contains some after action reports of LCT(5) Flotilla 5. We also located war diaries for LSM Flotilla 15, to which LSM-469 was assigned. These records have been digitized and can be viewed online through the Catalog. Please note that the Catalog does not always list files in chronological order
We also searched online and found the following unofficial webpages about these vessels:
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
Thank you. These were very helpful. My father served as a Motor Mechanic on the two LCT in the Solomons campaign. He left a couple dozen photgraphs and some conflicting records, typing back then was not always accurate.
