    Digital Edition of the Horace H. Lurton Papers

      This week the Library of Congress Manuscript Division released the Horace H. Lurton papers. Lurton, who was a Confederate prisoner of war at Camp Chase and Johnson's Island Prison in Ohio, later served as associate justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1910 to 1914. Correspondents represented in the collection include William R. Day, John Marshall Harlan, Charles Evans Hughes, Joseph Rucker Lamar, Whitelaw Reid, Theodore Roosevelt, Elihu Root, William H. Taft, and Edward Douglass White.
