Dear Ms. Templeton,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog for moving images with “Patuxent” in their description and located 20 items in the General Records of the Department of the Navy (RG 428); 9 items in the Records of the Office of the Chief Signal Officer (RG 111); 5 items in the Records of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (RG 330); 4 items in the Records of U.S. Air Force Commands, Activities, and Organizations (RG 342); 3 items in the Records of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (RG 255); and 1 item in the Hearst Metrotone News, Inc., Collection, 1937 - 1942 (Collection HRST). The majority of these items are not available online. To request access to and/or copies of these films and to inquire as to whether there are additional films not yet listed in the Catalog, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Motion Pictures (RDSM) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We also searched online and found two copies of the film “Testport” filmed at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in 1971, posted to non-government YouTube channels at https://youtu.be/8tN2UnaAem8 and https://youtu.be/1peJSM55384
In addition, you may wish to contact the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum, other aviation museums such as the National Air and Space Museum, the Patuxent River Naval Air Station’s Public Affairs Office, and the Naval History and Heritage Command.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
